Wake-up under a frozen tent… It is quite cold this morning.. Even the donkeys are looking for the sun this morning. Fortunately, the sun comes out from behind the mountains quite quickly.
Around 8.30am, we star tour descent still in the Guanacpatay valley to reach the little village of Huayllapa at 3,600m.
On the map below, the journey is in brown darkish..
After two and half hours of walk among flowers, along the river we reach the village.
We are back to civilisation… people, cars, house, streets… so strange.. but this is only for a few hours..
We have lunch (cooked by our guide ) and we take the opportunity to recharge our batteries and the cameras too so we can keep taking picture of the trek, the weather getting better every day.
At 2pm, we leave the village to reach our camp at 4,365m exactly… A good workout, especially straight after lunch… Caro takes the opportunity to do some horse ridding.. (why not !)
When we arrive, a great view onto the valley with in the back on the left the Diablo Mundo (5,223m) and our camp in the middle…
The weather allows us to get the sleeping bags and the tents to dry a bit.
As every day, pop corn and tea for the 4pm break. Then cards game with the whole team, diner and bed….(or should I say sleeping bag mode).
Tomorrow, we have a long day with two passes… Yummy…
See you tomorrow,
