We start our trip two months ago (already), spending the first month in Indonesia going every places every day…
I guess that after our second month spent in one place at Boracay, it is hard to keep that travel momentum… this is the same feeling than when you go back to work after two or three weeks of well deserved break and get back to the daily routine.
We are starting our last week of Holiday in Boracay where we have been able to rest and kite every day during 1 month and 1 week.
So many improvements for both of us in one month. Much more confident in kitesurfing, maybe even more safety aware, we jump higher and higher, backloop and frontloop and are independant on the water. We are ready for more kitesurf on Sydney open beaches when we get back in October.
We are sending our kite back to France so we can ride when we will be overthere in August/September. But in the meantime, I am trying to sell the kiteboard, as Fedex asks me 1,800$ to ship it to France… (oversize they are saying….however this is not a windsurf board)
Kitting, this is as well damage… Damage to the kite but as well to yourself… I am not 20 years old anymore and my ribs didn’t appreciate I tried many times to send this bloody backloop…One thing I have learned.. the use of the impact vest could have prevented me from some time off the water…
Another thing I’ve learned.. Learning to kitesurf and jump is a pure lean exercise… Split your manœuvre in small steps like you would do with any process, understand the outputs and inputs, write down everything on paper, visualise it then implement it. Finally, practice, do it again and again to make sure it is fully in place and it doesn’t fall into pièces three days later. If needed, ask some help from a new set of eyes.. or an expert in that matter.
Finally, kitesurfing is as well meeting new people. People from different background and countries gathering around the same passion. Either you are an expert, intermediate or beginner, you want to ride and enjoy.
Let’s get back to our travel… After a break of one month and half, we will be leaving Boracay to get to Donsol for our last week in Philippines from 13th of january to the 18th.
Overthere, we should give a go with shark. Well big sharks we call whale shark.. So there shouldn’t be any major issues.
Then, we go back to Indonesia to visit a new island « Sumatra ».We will head to the north above Medan to trek in the jungle to observe Orang-outang..
Then we really get back on the road for good.
Our next stop, will be a country that tourist can access only since a few years. A country that its habitants thank you for visiting and where some remote areas are still not accessible to foreigners… I name it Burma or Myanmar.
I guess what a good start for 2013.. What’s else ? Kitesurf, whale shark, orang-outang, Burma and 15 other countries..
I wish all of you an happy new year 2013..
See you soon,
Jacques and Caro.
